Beauty and the Beasts
Mr. Platt, Debbie, and Pete.

After a bit of a slow start Season 3 is off to the races with this episode, which has the highest single episode body count since Prophecy Girl. Something is shredding people in Sunnydale, and at first the Ozwolf is the prime suspect. Buffy soon finds a new suspect of her own: The recently returned from Hell Angel. Both Oz and Angel are let off the hook though when Buffy discovers Mr. Platt’s body. He was killed during the day.

In an effort to keep his girlfriend Debbie, Pete has been playing Dr. Jekyll. He devises a potion which make him ”mas macho” but it turns him into a murderous green eyed monster whenever he gets angry. He kills Mr. Platt, the school’s guidance councilor, because Debbie has told him too much, and later kills Debbie. Pete himself gets killed by Angel.

Buffy has several rather awkward bodies on her hands in this episode. She is the one who discovers Mr. Platt’s body, and even if she didn’t report it he died at about the same time as her scheduled appointment with him, so she has got to be on the suspect list.

Pete’s body is even more of a problem for her. She can’t even tell her friends what happened to him, because she hasn’t told them that Angel is back. They probably believe that she did it, she could leave Angel’s part in the fight out. But what are the authorities going to think happened? That he killed Debbie and then somehow managed to break his own neck?

Graduation
A Student, Larry, Principal Snyder, Harmony and probably several others are killed by the Mayor and his vampires after he transforms into a giant demon serpent.

The first student is eaten by the Mayor early in the battle. Larry dies shortly thereafter when he gets smushed by the serpent’s tail. Snyder comes to the traditional end for a Sunnydale High principal when he gets eaten. Harmony—the girl who has taken over from Cordelia as leader of the cool clique on campus—is killed by a vampire.

There are probably several other students killed in the battle, especially among those who tried to run away from the Mayor-demon and ran straight into his army of vampires. Several of the parents and teachers at the graduation ceremony who retreated into the school may also have been killed when Buffy and Giles blew it up, unless they were smart and kept right on running out the other side.
