First Season Bodies

#1: The extreme dead guy in Aura’s locker Welcome to the Hellmouth
The extreme dead guy in Aura’s locker was killed by the vampire Darla.

This is the body which lets Buffy know that Sunnydale isn’t the nice peaceful little town to which she can retire from vampire slaying that she had hoped it would be.

#2: Dr. Gregory Teacher’s Pet
Dr. Gregory is just about the only teacher in school who doesn’t think Buffy is some sort of felon. He has his head bitten off by a giant preying mantis. Cordelia finds his headless body in a cafeteria refrigerator.

Buffy is the last person to have seen Dr. Gregory alive, but the police never seem to get around to talking to her about it. Nor do they collect any of his property from his classroom. At the end of the episode his broken glasses are still on his desk, and his coat is still in the closet.

#3: Principal Flutie The Pack
Principal Flutie is eaten by a group of students who have been possessed by a hyena. The official explanation is that a pack of wild dogs somehow got into his office.

#4: Dave I Robot—You Jane
Dave is hung in the computer lab by his former friend Fritz, who has fallen under the influence of the demon Moloch the Corrupter. This one was rigged to look like a suicide, and the authorities seem to have bought it.

#5: Emily #6: Morgan The Puppet Show
Emily and Morgan (he’s the one on the right) are killed by a demon who has to harvest the organs of living people in order to maintain the appearance of being human itself. Buffy’s prime suspect is Morgan’s puppet—Sid. (He’s the one on the left)

The police show up to collect Emily’s body, and they seem to be collecting evidence (we see them bagging the knife which was the murder weapon,) but they don’t do anything else. Once again Buffy is seen near the scene of a crime, at about the time Morgan’s murder takes place, but no one seems to connect her to it.

Prophecy Girl
Kevin and at least 4 other students are killed by vampires in the school’s AV room. (There are at least 5 bodies visible in the room, there may be others out of sight.) This one at least makes the TV news, but there is no sign that the police do any investigating.
